About Me

Jeffrey Taulbee, MA, Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor, Owner

I believe that therapy is a collaborative effort: it is necessary that both therapist and client trust each other, respect each other, and are willing to communicate honestly. My goal is to always bring a compassionate, authentic attitude to therapy that respects my client’s individuality. I think that it is necessary to understand the whole person, not just the problem at hand, and help them to move towards their own values and goals. I prefer therapy to be an active experience, where we work together to do the things that will lead to improvements in your life.

In addition to building a strong therapeutic alliance, I believe that therapy must be informed by the best available science to provide powerful treatments that work. I utilize a combination of modalities that have been proven to effectively treat a wide range of issues, especially depression, anxiety, and OCD: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), and Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT). These treatment approaches help the participant to identify their unhealthy thoughts and behaviors, clarify their personal goals and values, and make tangible changes that lead to a richer, more meaningful life.

I received an MA in Clinical Psychology from Towson University, as well as a BS in Psychology from Virginia Commonwealth University. I have a wide range of experience in the mental health field, and have had the privilege of working with hundreds of clients across inpatient hospital settings, outpatient mental health clinics, and private practices. In addition to owning Wayfarer Counseling, I also work at the Anxiety and Stress Disorder Institute alongside other specialists in the treatment of anxiety and OCD. I teach graduate-level psychotherapy courses to therapists-in-training, and lead workshops to train colleagues in advanced treatments for anxiety and OCD. I am passionate about this field, and I would consider myself lucky to have the opportunity to help you on your journey.
